Welcome to the SpaHive Friday quick tips series. You give me 10 minutes of your time and I'll give you quick wins that are designed to make an impact in your business and your life. Let's dig into real tools, proven to work and pitfalls to avoid.
[00:00:30] Hey guys, Julie Pankey here. I'm so excited. To have you back for a quick win Friday what I'm even more excited about is that we're going to be having a series of quick wins Fridays starting today.
[00:00:48] And it will go over the next three Fridays, maybe four if I think up some more juicy, quick wins for you, but this series is going to be about spa business marketing tips. So I want you to set yourself up and your business up for success. And the first way to do that, that I want to talk about using some spa business marketing tips is to set your business up.
[00:01:19] On social media platforms. Now that doesn't mean setting yourself up on all social media platforms, because unless you're an avid social media user for your business, and you've already committed to using multiple social media channels, I don't want you to jump in the deep end of the pool. I want you to think about.
[00:01:47] Where your audience is where they hang out and where they can find you. So most likely if you're not already all over social media, you're not going to jump into Twitter or Pinterest right out of the get-go. Although they are both amazing platforms. That's for a more advanced user. Now, if you're there, we'll talk about that in a minute, but I want you to think about, and again, where are your customers hanging out?
[00:02:21] Most likely it's either Facebook or Instagram. Do you have a Facebook presence? Do you have an Instagram presence? If not, I want you to think about where you can commit to managing and being on. A regular basis. So that means where can you be consistent? Can you be consistent jumping in at doing both Facebook and Instagram together at the same time?
[00:02:55] I think you can. And those would be the first two platforms that I would talk to you about making sure you have a great presence once you do. I definitely would consider Pinterest. Your next social media platform. And then don't forget YouTube. That might be one of my next choices, but for now, I want you to just think about where you can commit to regularly and.
[00:03:28] I want you to think about what people use social media for and what you should be using. Social media for social media is not just for promotion promoting products. Social media is for education. Social media is for engagement. Social media is for connecting with your community, connecting with your potential customers, providing them value and education.
[00:04:05] I want you to take a few minutes and head over to Facebook. And let's talk about a few of my favorite spa industry influencers. So this is a way for you to educate yourself as well as get some really great. Tips and ideas and learn some tools and some things that are working for other businesses that you can use ideas for your own business.
[00:04:41] I'm not talking about copying ideas. I'm talking about. Taking great ideas and making them your own. So some people that I think you should check out is live love spa, head on over to Facebook or Instagram checkout, live love spa. They are a spa event company. If you don't know them already, but they have.
[00:05:09] Some amazing tools, engage with them on their platforms. You'll learn about new products and services. They'll tag spa brands, where you can learn and follow new friends, new industry friends, and they're always doing what's the latest greatest in social media trends. So whether it's creating a reel, a poll.
[00:05:37] IGT TV. Amazing stories. They're great. Great. Great to follow another good follow is lip gloss and aftershave. Barry and Jenny are so fun. They connect one-on-one with the spa owner, the solo practitioner. They give you again, some amazing tips on marketing, new products. to try. They try all the products for you.
[00:06:05] So they give you some amazing feedback. Super great to follow again on Instagram and Facebook. Another good one to follow is spa industry association, and it's free to join. Alan shares. Great advice. Some really good posts on both Facebook and Instagram. And also he has a great flock and gather podcast.
[00:06:31] Another one that I love for you to check out is our friend Christie. She is at get spa info and get spot info is an amazing free resource where you can simply. Do that get spa info so you can connect with her on Instagram or Facebook. She has a great website and she's building a ton of free resources that can help you as a business owner.
[00:07:00] Not to mention you can connect with her on her platform, see what she's doing. What's working for her on social media. And then my last influencer that I want to talk to you about that I think would be great for you to follow is my friend Chrissy Connor, the visibility queen. So go on over to Facebook or Instagram checkout, Chrissy Connor or visibility queen and join her.
[00:07:28] Follow her. She has a few free. Facebook groups that you can jump into and what she teaches you is how to get more visible on social media. So she does free visibility challenges. She does free classes about how to get the most out of each platform. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik, TOK, YouTube, you name it.
[00:08:00] She talks about it. Most of her stuff is free, so you can get some really great resources. Now I want to talk about some spas that I think you should check out on Facebook and Instagram. My first is chill spa. She's one of our SpaHive, VIP members, and Chrissy does a great job. You're going to find her at chill day spa on Instagram and Facebook.
[00:08:32] They're located in Manchester, New Hampshire. And what I think is great. As you could see the realness of their posts, when you're searching through all their posts on Facebook, you have an opportunity to meet. The chill girls. You see what the chill girl's favorite products are, what they're working on before and after you really feel like you get to know Chrissy and the chill girls at chill spa, which I think is super fun because.
[00:09:07] That's what social is about getting social, living your potential customers. Get to know you as the face of your brand. Also get to know your team as an extension of your brand. Another spy wants you to follow on Facebook and Instagram is Serendipity. Serendipity day spa also in New Hampshire. Located in Concord, New Hampshire.
[00:09:36] I think they do a really good job also at engaging people. So yes, they do have some promotional posts, but they also have some philanthropic posts, which I think is great. Some heartfelt and vulnerable posts that they posted, throughout this last year. Yeah. And it really lets you the potential customer or the current customer in so that you can see not just the outside, right?
[00:10:11] Not just from the outside a 36,000 foot view, but a real personal view. It makes you start to get to know. The owners, the operators of this spa, the staff, and really connect with them. Another thing that I want you to try and follow is radical salon. So critical salon does an amazing job go to Facebook or Instagram graphical salon.
[00:10:43] You see they post regularly. They have before and afters, they have. Events inspirations get to know Gretta or Gretchen Monoham you also see like they're positioning their staff members as experts. In the industry. So they introduce you to their staff. There's videos, there's stories. I'm not going over to Instagram right now, but I'm sure there's some reels and it's super fun.
[00:11:20] And by looking at it again, it brings you in to the spa makes you feel comfortable. And if you were to run into one of these girls at the supermarket, You might feel like you already know them because you're following them on social media and that is key, right? We want to bring our customers in, get them immersed in our world and to know us like us, trust us, and want to buy from us.
[00:11:55] The last spa that I think does a really great job. And it's a spa and product brand and that's savor beauty. So head on over Facebook or Instagram, savor beauty, and they do a great job as well, consistent regular posts. They show videos, they do reels. They probably do boomerangs showing their products.
[00:12:22] I'm looking at their Facebook right now. And I'm looking at how they're posting a picture about one of their body scrubs, the menuca honey sugar scrub by the way is one of my favorite scrubs. But anyway, instead of just showing a picture of the jar, static, boring picture, They have this really great, very short 12 second video where you can almost smell what that scrub would be like.
[00:12:54] So I want you to check out these pages and in the show notes, I'm going to put them in as well. Because I think that they're brands that are doing a really good job on their social media and would be something for you to check out, follow mimics, see what they're doing. Again, we're not stealing ideas.
[00:13:15] We're just mimicking and seeing what has worked well. What posts have three likes versus. 130 likes what videos. Those are people watching and engaging in. And I don't want to overwhelm you. So I, I am a big fan of time blocking some people call it time boxing. I encourage you to dedicate 30 minutes a day.
[00:13:48] Right. When you get up, maybe before you leave the house and go to the spa or at the end of the day, or during lunch to check out other spas and influencers on social media platforms. I learned so much from people on social media that know how to do things more than I do far better than I do. And I jot down notes and ideas and I go back to my team and say, Hey, could we do a poll or a contest or check out this reel, isn't it super fun.
[00:14:21] How could we do something like that? So take, 30 minutes a day, when you're scrolling through Facebook or going down your Instagram feed, Definitely check out other spots and influencers have a notepad nearby and write down some things that you think are fun, interesting that your clients would react to and then recreate those ideas.
[00:14:46] As your own, I named a few already engage with them. Get seen, learn, and grow out there on social media. Then I would plan your content at least a week ahead of time for your own pages. If we're being truly honest, I think that you should be planning a month ahead of time. We plan months ahead of time. We have a monthly meeting and we talk about what's coming up in the next few months that we want to be sure that we're promoting, whether it's on Facebook, Instagram, whether we're doing a tic-tac video or reel, whether it's a blog post.
[00:15:28] And so I want you to at least commit to planning a week ahead for your own social media posts. Time block one hour a week to schedule your posts. So take those notes throughout the month. Every day, when you're spending 30 minutes on social media, have a notebook just for social media ideas, write all your notes down.
[00:15:55] So then when you take out your social media planning calendar, You're putting some of those, the ideas in. So next week, the week after the week after that, are there any holidays, are there school vacations? Do you have new products and services? Do you have a new employee that you want to promote? What do you want to talk about?
[00:16:16] And what do you want to promote for your business? I am going to share with you our social media planning calendar. So in the show description, you're going to have a link to our sample, social media planning calendar. I'd like for you to use that for yourself, I'd love for you to take some of these tips and implement them immediately.
[00:16:41] Go in. Right away commit for the next few weeks to what social media platform you're going to give your all to Facebook, Instagram again, if you're already Facebook, Instagram, savvy, then jump into Pinterest. I mean, people are searching Pinterest, like they're searching Google for spa treatments, spas to visit.
[00:17:07] All these keywords that you enter into Pinterest, you could Excel and be a winner in the Pinterest game because not a lot of spas are using it right now, but more than likely, I want you to focus on Facebook and Instagram for the next two weeks. Follow the influencers and spa examples that. I said earlier, and I also posted them in our show notes with their links so that you can go ahead and follow them time, block some time out of your schedule for the next two weeks, 30 minutes a day, check out other spa and influencers.
[00:17:48] I already gave you a few of their names, engage with them. Don't just look, I want you to engage comment, follow. I want you to do. Really gets seen, create some videos of your own 32nd videos. Get to know you videos that you can post on Instagram or Facebook. I want you to learn, expand, and grow over these next two weeks.
[00:18:16] Then plan out your own content calendar for the next two weeks. Download the social media planning calendar that I provided for you. And. Start in there start planning. What do you want to promote going into may? Hey, mother's day might be a good idea, but keep in mind when you're creating your posts, what do you want to see on social media?
[00:18:44] What would excite you? What would engage you? The brands that you love and you follow, what are they doing? I know they're not shamelessly promoting their products. They're drawing you in. They're making you a raving fan. They're exciting you. That's what I want you to do over the next two weeks on your social media and drop me a line.
